Incentives and Taxes

The City of Concord offers a number of grants to businesses in an effort to attract businesses and investment to the community. These grants are provided through a tax incentive program. The City of Concord is committed to retaining its "business friendly" reputation by helping businesses expand.

Tax Information

Ad Valorem Tax

The City of Concord has one of the lowest tax rates of any city its size in North Carolina. Local property taxes on real and personal property are paid annually through the Cabarrus County Tax Administration Office.  To simplify tax bills, City of Concord taxes are paid to the Cabarrus County Tax Administration Office.  The fiscal year of the City of Concord and Cabarrus County is from July 1st to June 30th.  Tax bills are due on September 1st; however, bills are not delinquent until after January 5th of the subsequent year.

City Privilege License

Effective July 1, 2015, the City of Concord no longer requires businesses to secure a privilege license (see S.L. 2014-3/House Bill 1050).  However, businesses which hold North Carolina ABC Commission permits must still apply for the City of Concord Beer/Wine Permit with the City Tax Collections Office.  The time period of the annual Beer/Wine License is from May 1 to April 30 of each year. 

Please note that all businesses are required to secure a Certificate of Compliance before occupying a commercial space.
