The City of Concord grants funding to non-governmental, or "External Agencies," that contribute to the City's cultural, social, and economic vitality. External Agency funding requests are considered by the City Council under the auspices of the Public Purpose Clause of the North Carolina State Constitution (Article V, Sec. 2(7)). Further guidance by North Carolina Supreme Court case law allows the City Council to choose to fund activities that 1) are within the appropriate scope of governmental involvement and reasonably related to community needs and 2) benefit the general public, as opposed to special interests or persons.
Concord is no longer accepting External Agency funding applications for FY 18 (July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2018). The deadline to submit an application was 5pm, March 3rd, 2017. As a responsible steward of residents’ tax dollars, Concord’s highest priority in FY18 will continue to be ensuring that the City continues to provide basic municipal services for our residents.
Please note that in addition to the External Agency Funding Application, potential grantees are required to submit the following:
- 501(c)(3) non-profit status letter
- List of the Board of Directors
- Organizational Chart with Job Titles and Names
- Resumes for staff members responsible for program administration
- Agency By-laws
- Mission Statement/Core Values Statement
- Declarations page for current General Liability Insurance Policy
- Current Detailed Budget (Revenues & Expenses)
- Most recent independent financial audit
