Parks & Recreation

The City of Concord is updating its Parks and Recreation Master Plan. If you received a recreational needs survey questionnaire in the mail please take a moment to complete and return it according to the instructions. Your opinions about the future of Concord Parks and Recreation are important to us!

The survey can be accessed at

At the November City Council meeting, Mayor Scott Padgett presented a donation from the Parks & Recreation Veterans Salute 5K, part of Concord’s participation in the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Combat Wounded Veterans Chapter 634.  Michael Stubbs, Commander of MOPH 634, presented plaques to the City and Parks & Recreation in appreciation for the recognition of all veterans during Veterans Salute 5K and introduced the wounded war veterans from MOPH 634 in attendance.

Members of Combat Wounded Veterans Chapter 634, Military Order of the Purple Heart, honor and respect the veteran community and support men and women serving at home and abroad.  Members visit with veterans in their homes and at local care centers, take part in local school functions, national holiday ceremonies and parades and place flowers on member’s graves during the Memorial Holiday Weekend.  All memorials are dedicated to Purple Heart recipients, our nation’s oldest military decoration.

Combat Wounded Veterans Chapter 634 includes veterans from the Metro areas of Charlotte: Mecklenburg, Union, Gaston, Lincoln, Cabarrus and Rowan counties.
