 COUCH to 5K CHALLENGE


 
 

 
The City of Concord Parks and Recreation Department is taking the wellness program to the next level with the COUCH to 5K CHALLENGE.  This group training and exercise program does not require any running experience.  It is designed to encourage, motivate and challenge the individual to compete with his/her peers.  The Couch to 5K challenge will meet at James L Dorton Park in Concord on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  There is a $15.00 registration fee.  This fee includes a T-Shirt and $5.00 discount on the 5K registration.  The final goal is to run the Streetlight 5K on 7/8.  Stop being a couch potato and sign up today!

 

  • 10 week program beginning 5/3/16
  • Meet Tuesdays and Thursdays – 6:30 pm @ James L Dorton Park
  • Group training plan provided
  • Concludes with the running of the 5K on 7/8/16. (registration fee required)
  • No running experience necessary
  • Wear running shoes and dress to be outside
  • Program led by certified instructor
  • Group Accountability/ Encouragement

Motivate Wellness 5K to 10K Program

This 6 week Intermediate Running Program is designed to help and motivate those that have run several 5Ks, finished under 45 minutes and are now interested in training to run longer distances.  The 5K to 10K program will meet at James L. Dorton Park on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  The cost is $30. The goal of this program is to run an optional 10K race.  Race registration not included.  

  • 6 week program beginning 4/5/16
  • Meets Tuesdays & Thursdays - 6:30 pm and Saturdays - 8 am at James L. Dorton Park
  • Minimum of 25 participants by 4/1
  • Pre-registration is required
  • Optional Race registration not included
  • Wear running shoes and dress to be outside
  • Group training
  • Program led by certified instructors
