The Concord Police Department is made up of diverse personnel committed to public service through problem solving and evidence based community policing. The department provides its officers an opportunity to serve the community in many varied types of assignments including patrol, investigations, traffic safety, airport unit, K-9, community outreach and education division and SWAT. Officers are assigned their own patrol vehicle, with take home privileges if they are residents of Cabarrus County. All officers are furnished all necessary equipment and uniforms. Continuing education is encouraged through partial tuition reimbursement plan and the department offers a Career Development Program.
This City of Concord was founded in 1796 and is the county seat for Cabarrus County. Concord is located in the southern piedmont region of North Carolina and is situated near other historical and diverse cities such as Charlotte, Kannapolis, Huntersville and Salisbury. Concord's central location in the state offers it's residents a short drive to North Carolina beaches and mountains. Concord is comprised of over 60 square miles and has a current population of approximately 89,000.
Many nationally recognized businesses and corporations, such as S&D Coffee, Amazon, Sysco Food Distributors and many NASCAR based enterprises, call Concord home. Concord also boasts Concord Mills Mall, which is the state's #1 tourist attraction. The shopping complex includes 480 stores, restaurants and an aquarium. Other attractions in Concord include, the Rocky River Golf Course, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Z-Max Dragway as well as several parks and greenways.

Anyone wishing to apply to become a member of the Concord Police Department must meet the following qualifications:
1. Must be a citizen of the United States.
2. Must be at least 20 years of age.
3. Not have been convicted of any felony.
4. Not have been convicted of a Class I or Class II misdemeanor within 5 years of application.
5. Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license.
6. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
