Determine if the pothole or damage is on a City-maintained street, State-maintained street, or private street by using the Map of City-Maintained Streets. If the street is maintained by the City, please contact the City’s Customer Care Center at (704) 920-5555 to generate a work order. If the street is maintained by the State, please contact the North Carolina Department of Transportation at (704) 436-9316. If the street is private, please contact the local property owners’ association.

If the street is maintained by the City, please complete a Sidewalk Request Form or call (704) 920-5338. Sidewalk requests will be prioritized based on a points system in the City’s Pedestrian Improvement Plan.

How do I apply for a driveway permit?
To apply for a driveway permit, please submit a driveway application form and plans showing the location and dimensions of the proposed improvements to the Development Services Department at 66 South Union Street. Two copies are required for access to City streets. Six copies are required for access to State streets, along with six copies of a completed N.C. DOT driveway permit form
