CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP:
Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Center United Methodist Church, located at 1119 Union Street South in Concord. This workshop will be a drop-in session from 4:00pm to 7:00pm with no formal presentations.

WHAT IMPROVEMENTS ARE BEING STUDIED?
The City of Concord is currently evaluating a new design for the intersection of US Hwy 601 (Warren C. Coleman Blvd.) and NC Hwy 3 (Union Street) to help reduce traffic congestion. Proposed improvements include the addition of a turn lane along US 601 and NC 3 and the addition of a sidewalk along NC 3.
WHAT’S BEEN DONE SO FAR?
The City of Concord has developed conceptual designs of the proposed intersection improvements and they are being presented at this workshop so the City can gather feedback and answer project-related questions.
WHAT’S NEXT?
After the workshop, a three-week comment period will extend through July 19, 2012. A final design will then be developed based on engineering considerations, costs, impacts on the human and natural environments, coordination with agency and public officials, and comments received from the public. The planning and design studies will be summarized in an environmental document called a Categorical Exclusion (CE). The CE will include a description of the proposed intersection improvements, the reasons why the improvements are needed, and any potential impacts associated with the project.
