The Special Operations Division is responsible for providing operational support by using a variety of specialized teams, intervention strategies, and tactics. This division partners with the patrol bureaus and the communities we serve. This division strives daily to work collaboratively to reduce the levels of crime, fear, and disorder in neighborhoods; improve the quality of life for Concord’s citizens, visitors, and businesses; and have a positive and lasting impression on the lives of the citizens of Concord. The Special Operations Divisions includes Traffic, Vice/Narcotics and the Public Safety Unit.  

Captain McGhee was raised in Concord, North Carolina. Captain McGhee began his career with the City of Concord in 1997. Formerly working in the Communications Department (1997-2000) and the Fire Department (2000-2001), Captain McGhee now serves Baker District with 15-years of law enforcement service to the Police Department. As an Officer, Captain McGhee worked in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division (Vice/Narcotics and Special Victims Unit), and the Special Investigations Unit. Captain McGhee achieved the rank of Sergeant in 2008 and supervised in both the Patrol Division and Support Services Division. Captain McGhee was promoted to the rank of Captain in April 2016. Captain McGhee attends Montgomery Community College and hold his Advanced Law Enforcement certificate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.

Captain McGhee lives in Cabarrus County. In his spare time, Captain McGhee enjoys competitive fishing and playing golf.
