New destination announced at Concord Regional Airport: Destin, Florida
On Monday, City officials joined Allegiant Air to announce Destin, Florida as the airline's sixth nonstop destination from Concord Regional Airport (USA). Twice-a-week seasonal service will begin June 7 to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS). "We are proud to partner with a great company to expand our travel options for those in the surrounding area," said Concord Aviation Director Dirk Vanderleest. "This will be a great benefit to the Charlotte area and Cabarrus County community as we continue to attract those looking for convenient and nonstop service to their favorite vacation destinations." Concord is one of five new routes to Destin for Allegiant. Schedules and ticketing information is available at allegiantair.com, or learn more about commercial service at Concord Regional Airport at concordnc.gov.

County parking deck construction causing brief downtown Concord traffic shift
Drivers in downtown Concord will encounter a single-lane closure and traffic shift on Spring Street SW between Corban Avenue and Foard Avenue, beginning Monday, February 19, through Thursday, February 22. Signage and flaggers will direct traffic around the closure, which is associated with the construction of the County’s new 628-spot downtown parking deck. The deck, on the corner of Corban Avenue SW at Spring Street SW, across from the Cabarrus County Courthouse, will help address parking demands for courthouse activities.
