Dancing for the Arts is a dance competition that puts local stars on the Davis Theatre Stage while raising funds to support arts programs in schools and across the community. Fall short finding Hamilton tickets? Cabarrus County has your ticket to Fair-a-dise
Hamilton wasn't the only ticket presale happening this week. The 2018 Cabarrus County Fair is September 7 through 15 at the Cabarrus County Arena and Events Center (4715 NC-49, Concord). You can get your ticket to Fair-a-dise at a discounted rate online now through September 6. For nine amazing days enjoy food, rides, games and entertainment. Advance tickets and ride wristband vouchers are available for sale through September 6 at cabarruscountyfair.com. Advance adult admission tickets for ages 12-64 cost $5.35 – a $2 savings off the gate price. Advance ride wristband vouchers can be purchased for $15, offering a $5 savings. Ride wristbands are offered every day of the Fair and allow fair-goers to ride unlimited rides at one low price. Just bring the advance ride wristband voucher on any day of the Fair to redeem for a wristband at the midway guest relations booth inside the fairgrounds. Just steps from the midway, families can visit attractions, like racing pigs, dog shows, chainsaw carving, a butterfly encounter, blacksmithing demonstrations and local agricultural displays. Exhibit: Visual Strategies: a Collaborative Project
ClearWater Artist Studios in Concord is pleased to be collaborating with local artist/ curator, Mikel Frank, to realize an exciting and unique art exhibit and related events through August 27. "Visual Strategies: A Collaborative Project" is in conjunction with the Global Art Project (GAP) organization, whose founder, Carl Heyward, on the West Coast is co-curator of the exhibition. Collaboratively constructed artworks are on exhibit from all over the world; three live-collaborative-painting events are free and open to the public.  See clearwaterartists.com for details and links to social media.

Flow Painting with Kat Wyllie – Thursday, August 9, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
In this new type of painting class, learn from painting teacher and Resident artist at ClearWater Artist Studios, Katlyn Wyllie how to recognize anxiety when painting and how to start to overcome your negative thoughts. Learn to love what you make. Relax... and learn to let go and go with the flow. No experience necessary. Just have fun! The $35 fee will be collected at the door – cash, charge or check.


Family Collaboration Painting Day
Saturday, August 11
Sessions at 11am and 2pm (ending 4pm) – in conjunction with 2nd Saturday Open Studios at ClearWater Artist Studios; doors open at 10am.  Main Gallery.  Bring your kids! The community is invited to join us and work collaboratively with each other and other attendees in the creation of two large collaborative collage/ painting works, on ClearWater's 'Giant Easels' - which will then be added to the exhibition! This is the third and final 'live collaborative painting' event produced as part of the exhibition, 'Visual Strategies: A Collaborative Project.'
