Corban Avenue detour to remain until June 28
Corban Avenue is closed at the intersection with Bell Street SW (near Barber-Scotia College) from June 14-28, 2010 for the installation of the final piece of a new sewer line to serve the new Cabarrus County Detention Facility. Motorists will be detoured through Cabarrus Avenue, and nearby streets are open to local traffic only. For more information please visit the Concord Interactive Traffic Map or call 704-920-5403.
Poplar Tent Road/US-29 intersection improvements drop-in session
The intersection of Poplar Tent Road and US-29 will be improved using the “superstreet” concept beginning in 2011. On Thursday, July 1, City staff and design consultants will be at Fire Station 3 from 5-7 p.m. to provide information and receive public comments on the project. Citizens are welcome to drop-in at their convenience. If you have any questions about the upcoming meeting or need additional information, please contact Ms. Sue Hyde, Director of Engineering for the City of Concord (704-920-5362, or Ms. Betsy L. Join us for FREE movies and more at James L. Dorton Park located at 5790 Poplar Tent Road on the fourth Friday of the summer months – June, July, and August. The free outdoor movies have been edited for family viewing. Games, activities, and inflatable amusements will begin on the ball field at 7:30 p.m. The movie will start at 8:45 p.m. or dusk. Concessions will be available, but you can also bring your own food. No alcoholic beverages permitted. Don't forget your chairs or blankets to sit on!
