Presentation of retirement plaque to Richard K. Lewis for 12 years of service to the City of Concord, serving 10 as director of Concord Regional Airport.
Conducted a public hearing pursuant to N.C. General Statute 159-12 to consider public comments relative to the proposed FY 2012-2013 budget for the City of Concord, and adopted the budget.
Conducted a public hearing and adopted a text amendment to Article 8 of the Concord Development Ordinance (CDO) to clarify spacing requirements for Electronic Gaming Operations.        
Conducted a public hearing to receive and review comments regarding leasing Lot CB-3 at the Concord Regional Airport to Classic Aviation, LLC and adopted a resolution authorizing such lease.
Approved an agreement to provide sewer and water utility services to a portion of the Hallstead Subdivision, received a voluntary annexation petition, and adopted a resolution setting a public hearing on July 12 for annexation of land owned by NW Southeast Holdings LLC and Regent Homes.  
Adopted a resolution approving the sale of City of Concord property to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) for the Cabarrus Ave., W. Bridge Replacement Project
Awarded a professional services contract to Mobility Solutions Unlimited, LLC to provide CRMPO administration and transportation planning services.
Authorized the City Manager to sign a contract renewal addendum with CCTS for the operation of federally required complimentary ADA paratransit service for the Rider system.
Authorized the City Manager to sign a contract amendment with CATS for the operations of the Concord Express.
Authorized the City Manager to sign a contract amendment with CATS for the operations of the Concord Mills Express.
Made several appointments and reappointments to various Boards and Commissions.
Temporary closure scheduled for Zion Church Road
The City of Concord is planning sewer infrastructure improvements that will close a popular road to through-traffic for approximately two weeks. Motorists who use Zion Church Road to travel between Warren C. Coleman Boulevard (US 601) and NC Highway 49 in Cabarrus County will be redirected from this route beginning Monday, June 18. The closure, near the intersection of Zion Church Road and Litaker Lane, will allow crews to upsize a sewer outfall, and doubling the capacity for over 1,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in the area. Fire and Life Safety Career Day scheduled for Satuday, June 16
Are you or someone you know interested in a challenging career with excellent potential and great benefits? The Concord Department of Fire and Life Safety is hosting its annual Career Day open house at Fire Station 3 (100 Warren C. Coleman Boulevard), on Saturday, June 16 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The event kicks off the 2012-13 Firefighter Recruitment process. Career Day provides the opportunity for interested applicants to learn more about the department, meet firefighters, tour facilities, see equipment, and find out what it is like to be a firefighter. Learn how your government works in Concord 101
The City of Concord is now accepting applications for Concord 101, a course designed for citizens to learn about their local government. The free 10-week course begins August 28 and culminates with a graduation ceremony in November. Visit for more information.
Register for Safety Town 2012
It’s time to register rising kindergarten students in Cabarrus County for Safety Town 2012, a project of The Junior Charity League of Concord. This free program helps children to learn age appropriate safety rules in classes taught by local professionals. Students will attend sessions on bus safety, fire safety, animal safety, bike safety, gun safety, stranger danger, finger printing, ambulance awareness, dental hygiene and personal hygiene. Safety Town will be held Aug. 7 and 8 (depending on student school assignment) at Coltrane-Webb Elementary School, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Register online at Questions? Art Walk tonight!
The Galleries are hosting an Art Walk on Friday, June 15 from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Concord. The Art Walk coincides with the latest exhibit, The Animal House, which is local artists' depiction of animals through art of all forms. Stroll through local galleries and downtown Concord businesses to check out displayed pieces of art and speak with the artists. Entertainment and refreshments will be provided.
