Did you know?
Did you know that Fleet Services disposes of all surplus City vehicles and equipment via online auction? The City switched from traditional auctions in 2006, and make an average of 30 percent more on surplus vehicles due to a wider, nationwide bidder base. This also eliminated hundreds of hours of staff time that was required for standard auctions, saving the City tens of thousands of dollars each year. Check out govdeals.com for surplus City of Concord property and equipment.

Yard waste pilot project ends, loose-leaf collection season begins
After ten weeks, the City of Concord’s Solid Waste Services Department has completed its yard waste collection pilot study period. The study evaluated alternative yard waste scheduling methods in an effort to reduce operating cost, while providing the same great customer service to residents. Beginning Monday, October 22, Concord’s yard waste operations will return to normal, with yard waste collection occurring on the same day as customers’ regularly-scheduled garbage collection each week. As always, all customers should have yard waste at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on their collection day to guarantee pick up.

Also on Monday, the City will begin its annual loose leaf collection season. This popular program returns to provide each Concord resident three opportunities to have unbagged leaves collected curbside between October 22 and February 1. Customers in the TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY collection areas will have their first opportunity for leaf pickup next week. Visit concordnc.gov for more information.
