Did you know the City's Housing Department is planning a career fair open to the general public? The Housing Department and Logan Community Association's second annual career fair will be Friday, April 8 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Neighborhood Networks Technology Center, 265 Salem Street SW. In addition to learning about job opportunities with the City of Concord, attendees will be able to interact with several local employers and employment assistance centers. Concord Police request public feedback on policy changes
The Concord Police Department wants to hear your perspectives, concerns, and suggestions on various policies and procedures that are under review or have recently changed. During listening sessions scheduled for March 3 and 7, Chief Gary Gacek and staff will share information, answer questions, and receive feedback about the department’s proposed body-worn and existing in-car camera programs, and other important policy changes that have been made in the last six months. Two sessions are planned: Thursday, March 3 or Monday, March 7, each at 6:00 p.m. in Concord Police Headquarters, located at 41 Cabarrus Ave W. Lawing recognized by Police Department

Congratulations to Concord Police Officer Garron Lawing, who was recognized by Chief Gary Gacek as the Department's 2015 coworker of the year. Officer Lawing rendered aid to a shooting victim in July 2015, whose wound could have been life threatening. EMS responders commented that Officer Lawing's actions contributed to the victim surviving the trauma. Sworn and civilian Police Department coworkers are eligible for recognition by the Department's Commendations committee. Those recognized each month are considered for coworker of the year. Pound Cake and Portraits return to ClearWater Artist Studios

ClearWater Artist Studios is bringing back the popular Pound Cake Portrait Paint-Off on Saturday, March 12. See master painters bring blank canvas to a fully-realized portrait in just two hours. Punctuated by live entertainment, with ClearWater's studios open throughout the building for perusal and live demos by the Southern Piedmont Woodturners. Pound cake and other refreshments will be served, along with prizes for raffle. iRecreate moves to Dorton Park for March
How do you recreate? This spring, Parks and Recreation wants to see how you play in City parks and greenways with a themed photo contest based once a month in a specific park or greenway. Visit Parks and Recreation's Facebook Page for voting on February's entries. March's featured facility will be James L. Dorton Park. Please send your photos of running, biking, playing on the playground, or any form of recreation to culbrethk@concordnc.gov.
