In observance of Labor Day, City of Concord offices will be closed on Monday, September 4. Garbage, recycling, and bulky waste collection by Waste Pro will operate on a one day delay next week, with Monday’s items collected on Tuesday, and Friday’s items collected on Saturday. However, customers are asked to place all yard waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5. Yard waste will be collected by the end of the day Friday, September 8. The Concord Fire Department invites the public to a community-wide Patriots Day remembrance ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, September 11. The brief memorial service will be held at Concord Fire Station 8, located at 1485 Old Charlotte Road. For more information, visit concordnc.gov.

FEMA offers advice and resources to those looking to help in response to Hurricane Harvey
According to FEMA, the best way to help after a disaster is with cash donations to trusted organizations. Cash is efficient, flexible to use, and requires no packaging or transport. Trusted organizations will ensure your money goes to help those in need. For more information on how you can help and a list of nonprofit organizations, visit nvoad.org. You can also visit fema.gov for additional information, including job opportunities to work with FEMA in the response.

Be your Child's Hero at Safety Palooza 2017
Safe Kids Cabarrus and the Concord Fire Department are hosting this year's Safety Palooza from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 16. Annual sewer line rehabilitation work planned through September
Citizens may imagine sewer rehabilitation as quite a messy endeavor. However, each year the City of Concord uses a slip lining contractor to maintain sewer infrastructure with minimal public disruption and considerable benefits. Contractors began the latest round of slip lining work earlier this month, and will continue through September. Slip lining is a process of rehabilitating existing sewer lines using remote-control devices to coat the inside of the sewer pipes. Since 2004, the City has saved millions of dollars using this process to give century-old iron and clay pipes new life, as opposed to replacing sewer lines. Find out more at

Just a few weeks left to participate in 2017 Solid Waste customer satisfaction survey

We would like you to tell us how satisfied you are with your garbage, recycle, and bulky waste services by Waste Pro. We would appreciate it if you would take a few minutes to answer complete our short survey available at concordnc.gov/solidwaste.

ClearWater Artist Studios Makes A Splash with New Website

ClearWater Artist Studios, the artist haven and community hub housed in the City of Concord's nearly century-old water works and utility operations facilities, is turning a page. A set of pages, in fact—it launches a brand-new website today. The new site features dozens of photos and a polished design to peak visitors' curiosity and offer a more complete glimpse of what ClearWater is all about. The site features a gallery of the tenant artists, offering biographies, a sampling of each artist’s works, and contact information. Also prominent are the calendar of events, class listings, and online reservations for ClearWater’s various event spaces, along with plenty of other interactivity.  Check it out. The new site is available at the same URL: clearwaterartists.com.
