LeDerick Blackburn honored with 2018 Jo Atwater Continuous Core Values award
In last week's Council Meeting Highlights, LeDerick Blackburn was announced as the 2018 Jo Atwater Continuous Core Values awardee. Blackburn has worked in the Planning and Neighborhood Development Department for 12 years and received the award from City Manager Brian Hiatt. The Continuous Core Values award was created in 2003 to recognize one coworker annually who embodies the organizational core values and commitment to serving others in the community. Ledwell, Osborne named to key positions as incoming City Manager begins transition
This week, two City of Concord staff members were named to fill open director positions by City Manager Brian Hiatt and incoming City Manager Lloyd Payne. On Wednesday, Steve Osborne was announced as Concord's next Planning and Neighborhood Development Director. Osborne has worked for the City of Concord since 1989 and succeeds retiring Planning Director Margaret Pearson.

Today, Bethany Ledwell was named as Concord's next Communications Director. Ledwell has worked for the City of Concord for over 15 years, and has been serving in the role on an interim basis since former director Vicki Callicutt left for a position with Union County Emergency Communications.

Both promotions are effective Monday, March 26. Payne assumes his new role as City Manager on April 1, as Brian Hiatt retires after 19 years of service with Concord and more than 37 years in North Carolina local governments.
