The Tim Clark Band to bring sounds of the beach to Haulers on Union
The 600 Festival Association has announced that the Tim Clark Band will bring a fun mix of beach music and oldies to the Haulers on Union Parade & Fan Fest presented by Freightliner in downtown Concord on May 17. The band’s upbeat sound will be one part of a free, fun and exciting evening highlighted by the MONSTER Energy NASCAR Cup car haulers annual parade down Union Street on the way to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the All-Star Race. More than 30 of the brightly-colored NASCAR haulers are expected on Union Street at approximately 6:15 p.m. for an evening of fun. Fans are asked to gather on Union Street between Cabarrus Avenue and Corban Avenue to view the hauler parade. There will be activities for the entire family beginning at 5 p.m. including show cars, race car simulators, games for the entire family, kids’ activities including a bounce house, mascots, celebrity autograph sessions, food vendors and a beer garden for adults. A prescription drug take back event is planned for your neighborhood April 28
The City of Concord continues its partnership with other local entities in support of the DEA's National Prescription Take Back Day on April 28. Several local businesses are offering the opportunity to dispose unwanted, unused, and expired medications in a safe and secure way. Visit any of the following locations from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on April 28: Moose Professional Pharmacy (270 Copperfield Boulevard NE #101), Cannon Pharmacy (760 Cabarrus Avenue W), Concord Pharmacy and Surgical Supply (3497 US Highway 601 S), West Cabarrus YMCA (5325 Langford Avenue NW).

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that lie unlocked in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from medicine cabinets of family and friends. Disposal by flushing unused medications down the toilet or throwing them in the trash pose potential safety and health hazards for children, adults, and pets. Be a part of the solution and dispose of medications properly. For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs go to DEA diversion control website.
