TOMORROW: National Prescription Take Back Day
The City of Concord continues its partnership with other local entities in support of the DEA's National Prescription Take Back Day on April 28. Several local businesses are offering the opportunity to dispose unwanted, unused, and expired medications in a safe and secure way. Visit any of the following locations from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on April 28: Moose Professional Pharmacy (270 Copperfield Boulevard NE #101); Cannon Pharmacy (760 Cabarrus Avenue W); Concord Pharmacy and Surgical Supply (3497 US Highway 601 S); West Cabarrus YMCA (5325 Langford Avenue NW). Phillip Graham named Transportation Director
City Manager Lloyd Payne has named Phillip Graham as Concord's next Transportation Director effective May 1. Graham has worked for the City of Concord since 2008 and succeeds retired Transportation Director Joe Wilson. The Transportation Department is responsible for engineering, planning, project inspection, preventive maintenance, and repair of City streets, curb and gutter, sidewalk, bridges, and traffic control infrastructure.

"Phillip is a dedicated member of our Transportation team and an emerging leader in our organization," said Payne. "His professional background and calm confidence are among the many qualities that make him the right person to lead our Transportation Department and the essential services they provide to community members and visitors."

Graham has been serving as interim Transportation Director since November 2017. He began his career with the City of Concord in 2008 as Staff Engineer and has progressed through various positions within the Transportation Department, most recently as Deputy Director. Learn more at

We are working to create a more connected Concord, and you can help

Let your voice be heard at the Open Space Connectivity Analysis public workshops on Wednesday, May 2 and Thursday, May 3. Be a tourist at home with the 2018-19 Cabarrus County Destination Guide
The Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau has released the updated 2018-19 Destination Guide filled with fun activities for visitors and locals. In addition to helpful resources included in years past, the 18-19 Guide features an enhanced video experience through augmented reality technology. Users can access exclusive videos and “meet the crews” of Cabarrus County, NC by using the Visit Cabarrus app (available on iTunes or Google Play). Released quarterly, each of the four covers builds on the “People of Cabarrus” concept introduced last year by highlighting four groups of people who aid visitors in making memories in Cabarrus County—Thrill Seekers, Foodies, Creators, and Tastemakers. Packed with information and inspiration, the 76-page publication is a free, comprehensive resource to the county’s attractions, lodging and shopping options, full-service restaurants, historical sites, sports and recreation facilities, and more. Cabarrus County Veterans Services Office relocates to The Old Creamery
This week, Cabarrus County's CTW gives you a first look of the new home to the Cabarrus County Veterans Services Office. The County's Veterans Services Department has relocated to The Old Creamery complex at 363 Church Street N, Suite 180 in Concord. The County selected the site for its first-floor, corner location and convenient accessible parking options. It's located across the breezeway from the Cabarrus County Board of Elections Office, which includes a community room that will serve both departments.
