City Nature Challenge Update
It has almost been a month since our first time participating in the City Nature Challenge, a global event that helped us find out what’s living in our back yards! Our local effort engaged thousands of people in identifying nearly 7,000 living things and over 1,000 different species ranking 18th of all 68 participating communities worldwide. We ranked higher than cities like Chicago, Rome, and Tokyo! We are already planning a bigger local effort for CNC 2019, so stay tuned to the CabCoCNC Facebook page. Visit to find out more.

However, the department has been recognized as one of the nation's 100 best fleets for the fifth time this year. The City's recognition was highlighted by Fuel What Matters, an initiative of NC State University's Clean Energy Technology Center and the NC Department of Transportation.
