Did you know?
Did you know August is National Back to School Safety Month? According to research by the National Safety Council, most of the children who lose their lives in bus-related incidents are 4 to 7 years old. They are hit by the bus, or by a motorist illegally passing a stopped bus. Help protect our children by watching this brief video.

Spring Street road closure updates
On Wednesday, Cabarrus County announced that the intersection of Spring Street SW and Corban Avenue SW will remain closed through September 17 due to a continuing stormwater project repair. Though the intersection is closed to through-traffic, businesses and their customers still have access to the area. The work is associated with the construction of the County’s new 614-spot downtown parking deck. During construction, which is expected to last through March 2019, courthouse visitors are encouraged to park in the County’s Surface Parking Lot 2 next to Fifth Third Bank, between Church Street and McCachern Boulevard. On Thursday an additional, unrelated closure several miles away on Spring Street NW was required. City of Concord Water Resources and Transportation crews closed a section of Spring Street NW near Elm Avenue NW due to a collapsed stormwater pipe under the roadway. This location is near the Boys and Girls Club of Cabarrus County. A detour route for motorists and pedestrians is in place and the public should exercise caution in the vicinity. For logistical reasons, construction to repair the pipe will not begin prior to Monday, August 20. Updated on this project will be available at
