December 7 Winter Weather Update
A winter storm warning has been issued for Cabarrus County from 7pm Saturday until noon on Monday. While the forecast continues to change and snow accumulation predictions remain challenging to pin down, it is very likely that our event will start with rain or a wintry mix. Therefore City crews have not applied salt brine to roadways as it would be washed away and a waste of resources. It appears that ice accumulation is a threat for our area and crews are on call in case roads become hazardous due to ice. Initially, crews will only respond to designated Bare Pavement Routes and will not respond to calls into neighborhoods for ice conditions. Our key message now is to prepare for potential hazardous roads and power outages, remain off roads if at all possible, and monitor local weather forecasts. We will continue to post updates at and on our social media accounts.

Loose leaf collection in Concord continues next week in the MONDAY area
Solid Waste’s annual loose leaf collection season continues next week. This popular program provides each Concord resident three opportunities to have un-bagged leaves collected curbside, through February 8. Bagged leaves are collected year-round on a weekly basis, on the normal garbage collection day. Customers on the MONDAY garbage collection routes must have leaves at the curb by 6 a.m. on Monday, December 10 for crews to collect them during the second collection cycle.
