City of Concord to observe Thanksgiving November 28-29
Thursday, November 21, 2019

CONCORD – In observance of Thanksgiving, City of Concord offices will be closed on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday’s garbage, recycling, and bulky waste collection will operate on a normal schedule next week. However, Thursday and Friday customers will have a one-day delay, with Thursday’s items collected on Friday, and Friday’s items collected on Saturday.

All customers are asked to place yard waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on Monday, November 25. Yard waste will be collected by the end of the day Wednesday, November 27. There will be no loose leaf collection scheduled next week, and cycle two begins with Tuesday route customers on Monday, December 2.

Customers are reminded that all garbage, recycling, and bulky waste must be placed at curb by 6:00 a.m. on their collection day. If items are set out after 6:00 a.m., they may not be located and miss collection. Customers should consider placing items at the curb after 5:00 p.m. the night before, and can visit concordnc.gov/whatsmyday or download the CARTology mobile app to verify their collection schedule.

Rider Transit will not be in service on Thursday, November 28, resuming normal service on Friday, November 29.

City parks and greenways will be open on the normal schedule. However, the Academy, Hartsell, and Logan Recreation Centers will be closed on Thursday, November 28; open from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29; and open from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 30.

The public is reminded to participate in Concord's Holiday kickoff events this weekend, including the 22nd annual Tree Lighting and Fireworks on Friday, November 22, and the 91st annual Cannon Pharmacy Concord Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 23. The Tree Lighting and Fireworks are sponsored by Atrium Health and Uwharrie Bank. The start of the parade will be marked by the sounding of the historic Gamewell Diaphone at Fire Station 1. Both the tree lighting and the parade are rain or shine events.
