City of Concord to observe Memorial Day
Friday, May 22, 2020

CONCORD – In observance of Memorial Day, City of Concord offices will be closed on Monday, May 25.

Per the schedule established by City Council, the historic Gamewell Diaphone at Fire Station 1 will sound one blast at noon on Memorial Day to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.

With the exception of the previously announced suspension of mattress collection, garbage, recycling, and bulky waste collection will operate on the normal schedule next week. However, all customers are asked to place yard waste at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26. All yard waste will be collected by the end of the day Friday, May 29.

Customers are reminded that items set out after 6:00 a.m. may not be located and miss collection. Customers should consider placing items at the curb after 5:00 p.m. the night before, and can visit concordnc.gov/whatsmyday to verify their collection schedule.

Rider Transit will not operate on Monday, May 25, and will resume normal service on May 26.

City parks and greenways remain open on the normal schedule, with the exception of the previously announced playground closure due to COVID-19. Additionally, all recreation centers, the McInnis Aquatic Center, and other facilities remain closed to the public until further notice.
