City of Concord to observe Thanksgiving November 26-27

CONCORD – In observance of Thanksgiving, City of Concord offices will be closed on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday’s garbage, recycling, and bulky waste collection by Waste Pro will operate on a normal schedule next week. However, Thursday and Friday customers will have a one-day delay, with Thursday’s items collected on Friday, and Friday’s items collected on Saturday.

All customers are asked to place yard waste at the curb by 6 a.m. on Monday, November 23. Yard waste will be collected by the end of the day Wednesday, November 25. There will be no loose leaf collection scheduled next week, and cycle two continues with Friday customers on Monday, November 30.

Customers are reminded that all garbage, recycling, and bulky waste must be placed at curb by 6:00 a.m. on their collection day. If items are set out after 6:00 a.m., they may not be located and miss collection. Customers should consider placing items at the curb after 5:00 p.m. the night before, and can visit to verify their collection schedule.

Rider Transit will not be in service on Thursday, November 26, resuming normal service on Friday, November 27.

City parks and greenways will be open on the normal schedule. The Academy, Hartsell, and Logan Recreation Centers will be closed on Thursday, November 26; open from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27; and open from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28.

The public is reminded to participate in Concord's Holiday kickoff events this weekend, including the Tree Lighting and Fireworks on Friday, November 20, and the 87th annual ACN Concord Christmas Parade on Saturday, November 22. The Tree Lighting and Fireworks are Sponsored by Carolinas HealthCare System and Uwharrie Bank. The start of the parade will be marked by the sounding of the historic Gamewell Diaphone at Fire Station 1.
