Thursday afternoon snow response and service update
Thursday, February 26, 2015

CONCORD – Road conditions continue to improve in Concord. Crews have made at least one pass through every secondary and neighborhood collector street in the city. Today's temperatures assisted with melting on other streets.

There is a risk of black ice forming overnight. Transportation will have an overnight crew of four trucks on standby to respond to icy spots or other areas as needed. The trucks will also make a pass on bare pavement routes to ensure roads will be ready for the morning traffic.

The City's recreation centers will close one hour early tonight, at 7:00 p.m.

Solid Waste services will resume Friday. There will be a one-day delay for garbage, recycling, and bulky waste collection for residents in the Thursday and Friday areas, finishing with the Friday route on Saturday. City Solid Waste crews will attempt to collect all remaining yard waste on Friday.

Rider Transit plans to resume normal service on Friday, as long as significant black ice does not prevent safe travel. Service updates for passengers are available at, the Rider Transit Facebook page, and via the customer service line at 704-920-7433.

This will be the final update for this event unless conditions change.

Previous updates: Wednesday PM, Thursday AM.
