Daytime lane closure planned on Church Street
Friday, June 12, 2015

CONCORD – Construction work will require a daytime lane closure and traffic shift Monday, June 15 through Wednesday, June 17 on Church Street in Downtown Concord. As part of the ongoing renovation of the historic Bell and Harris-Maxwell Brothers Furniture Store building at 29 Cabarrus Avenue East, the right lane on Church Street NE approaching Cabarrus Avenue E will be closed beginning at Killarney Avenue NE. All traffic will be guided into the left lane, which will be converted to allow all movements instead of the typical left turn only.

The closure will accommodate crews working between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to install windows and replace the downspouts on the elevation adjacent to Church Street.

A similar closure was in place in May to facilitate removing bricks from the building's window openings. Brick removal on the Cabarrus Avenue side of the building will be coordinated with related utility work that will take place in the coming months.

The Church Street Lofts project is transforming the three-story, 1920's commercial structure into 26 market-rate apartments. Construction will be completed late summer.
