City of Concord to observe Independence Day

CONCORD – In observance of Independence Day, City of Concord offices will be closed on Monday, July 4.

Waste Pro's garbage, recycling, and bulky waste collection will operate on a one day delay next week. Additionally, all customers are asked to place yard waste at the curb by 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5. All yard waste will be collected by the end of the day Friday, July 8.

Customers are reminded that effective July 5, residential bulky waste collection follows the same every other week schedule as recycling. Green week customers will receive bulky waste collection July 5-9. Items set out after 6:00 a.m. may not be located and miss collection. Customers should consider placing items at the curb after 5:00 p.m. the night before, and can visit concordnc.gov/whatsmyday to verify their collection schedule.

Rider Transit will not operate on Monday, July 4, and will resume normal service on July 5.

City parks, greenways, Lake Fisher recreation area, and the McInnis Aquatics Center will be open on the normal schedule. The Academy, Hartsell, and Logan Recreation Centers will be open from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. on July 4.

Per the schedule established by City Council, the historic Gamewell Diaphone at Fire Station 1 will sound one blast at noon on Independence Day to commemorate the birth of our nation.
