On Saturday, April 14, 2012, the City of Concord will partner with the City of Kannapolis and Cabarrus County to host the third annual Viva Verde Earth Fest. The event, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m at North Cabarrus Park, offers something for everyone. Here are a few things to note before you head to the park!

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Check us out on Facebook at facebook.com/VivaVerdeEarthFest.  Coming soon:  Help us choose the VVEF Photo Contest finalists by "liking" your favorite photo!

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

The limited parking inside the park is reserved for vendors and event staff. Please park across the street from the park entrance in the Parking Area, located at the Church of God Home for Children. Signage and event staff will guide you in. While you’re in the parking lot, please take advantage of the following opportunities:

Gas Cap Check
Volunteers from the Catawba College Center for the Environment will conduct a free gas cap check. 30 gallons of gasoline and about 200 pounds of evaporative emissions can be released every year from one leaking gas cap, creating air pollution and wasting fuel. If you want to participate, your gas cap will be checked and replaced, free of charge, if leaking, while you enjoy the event. Simply notify volunteer staff as you enter the parking area.

Reuse Roundup!

At the Reuse Roundup, charitable organizations and local businesses will collect unwanted items from the public that can be reused, including:
Plant Swap
It’s free and easy! Look for signs to help you find the plant swap, which operates on a “bring a plant, take a plant” basis.

Book Swap

It’s also free & easy! Just like the plant swap, look for signs for the book swap so you can “bring a book, take a book!”

Perscription medication disposal

The Kannapolis Police Department will be on site to collect prescription medications for safe disposal.

Recycling Stations

Various items will be collected for recycling in the parking lot, including:
